Fraud Management

Fraud management is a major area of concern for telco managers, and in over 60% of the cases, the responsibility for fraud management has been placed fully upon the revenue assurance team. In the majority of the rest of the cases, Fraud and Revenue Assurance are partner organizations, or at least some of the fraud responsibilities are under RA.
 
Indeed, there are a lot of reasons for putting revenue assurance and fraud within the same organization.

First – there is clearly a large overlap of responsibilities between the two groups. It is impossible to do fraud management without the tools, know how and access to information that defines the revenue assurance job.
 
Second – the skills, mindset, tools and diagnostics are similar if not exactly the same in most cases
 
But what is the scope of fraud management in your situations?
How does it fit within revenue assurance, or within the overall telco operational environment?
How do people organize their fraud management teams?
How do you separate the fraud team from the RA team? Who is responsible for what?
Do you have a centralized forensics function or do you have separate fraud and RA forensics teams?
